Star Ryan Gosling on Wednesday stayed away from the Cannes premiere of the ultra-violent "Only God Forgives", a blood-spattered revenge tale set in Bangkok. The film, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and also starring Kristin Scott Thomas, has divided critics.
