Townsend Issues Recall Following Hepatitis Lawsuits Costco Had Already Removed Berries from Shelves

The producer of the berries at the center of the hepatitis outbreak, Townsend Farms, has finally issued a recall. Only after a lawsuit was filed did Townsend issue the recall, even though Costco had already removed the berries from its shelves. [For more information, see www.foodrecallsinamerica.com.] Costco and Harris Teeter distributed the product, but so far only Costco seems to be linked to hepatitis cases. Costco was names as a defendant in the hepatitis lawsuit filed against it yesterday. The possible hepatitis victims are being encouraged to seek medical attention and discard the product.
