Number 6 – Funny lady Tina Fey has landed yet another nomination for her long run as Liz Lemon, sketch comedy writer and self-proclaimed dating disaster, on the series 30 Rock

Number 5 – Laura Dern is another woman on the Emmy list. In the show Enlightened she plays Amy, a self destructive female who vows to live an enlightened life, but has some problems on the way, is comedy at its best

Number 4 – The hit called Girls tells the tale of a group of females in their 20s and focuses on the lead character Hannah Horvath, played by Emmy hopeful Lena Dunham.

Number 3 – The Showtime series which got its start in 2009, Nurse Jackie features the lead female part of Jackie Peyton, who is a drug addicted nurse. The actress Edie Falco is now up for an Emmy for her work.

Number 2 – Amy Poehler has landed a nomination for her role of Leslie Knope on the series Parks and Recreation, which is about a group of public officials comically working to make their city a better place

Number 1 – Former Seinfeld queen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a nominee for her work on the HBO series Veep. She plays Selina Meyer, a former senator turned vice president
