Bring flowers - Chris Lawton at St Mary and St John Catholic Church, Erdington, Birmingham

Me playing the organ at St Mary and St John Roman Catholic Church in Erdington, Birmingham. br br The organ was originally installed at the church in 1937 and was job number A354 and is typical of many small instruments which Compton installed at suburban churches consisting of 4 ranks of pipes all fully enclosed. In the 1980s the church was refurbished and the organ was moved to its present location on the rear gallery. The specification reads: br br PEDAL br Bourdon 16' br Echo Bass 16' br Flute 8' br Salicional 8' br Tromba Bass 16' br Great to Pedal br Swell to Pedal br br GREAT br Contra Salicional 16' br Diapason 8' br Hohl Fute 8' br Salicional 8' br Octave 4' br Salicet 4' br Twelfth 2.23' br Fifteenth 2' br Swell to Great br br SWELL br Hohl Flute 8' br Salicional 8' br Flute 4' br Salicet 4' br Echo Cymbale III br Contra Tromba 16' br Tromba Minor 8' br Octave Tromba 4' br Tremulant (affects all divisions) br br ACCESSORIES br 4 double touch thumb pistons to Great and Pedal br 4 double touch thumb pistons to Swell and Pedal br 1 canceller thumb piston - Great to Pedal br 1 canceller thumb piston - Swell to Pedal br 1 balanced expression pedal - organ br 1 balanced expression pedal - crescendo br 1 general cancel thumb piston br Double touch canceller to each division br 4 ventil switches br Voltmeter br br For this first video I am playing the Catholic hymn 'Bring flowers of the rarest' which shows off the main tonal colours of the organ for accompanying congregational hymn singing. br br Many thanks to the church officials for allowing me access to this little gem of a Compton organ.
