Dr Robert Gallucci, President of the MacArthur Foundation, pays tribute to his former teacher and mentor Prof. Ashley Schiff of Stony Brook University, Long Island NY. This video was first broadcast on October 10th, 2009, at the 40th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Ashley Schiff Park Preserve. The preserve was dedicated in 1970 jointly by Stewart L. Udall, US Secretary of the Interior and John S. Toll, first President of Stony Brook University. The Ashley Schiff Park Preserve was established "To be "Forever Wild" as a lasting tribute to Prof. Schiff in recognition of his pioneering commitment to environmental conservation.
