Find out why The Jessica Stuart Few was called "amazingly charming!" by Canadian guitar icon Don Ross and "the best of both folk and jazz" by Tabassum Siddiqui of AOL Spinner.

The Jessica Stuart Few is one of the hottest bands to emerge from Toronto's eclectic indie folk scene. Bringing the lyrical playfulness of Joni Mitchell while restringing the formula, adding the traditional Japanese koto (zither) in addition to her guitar. Playing with double bass (Dan Fortin) and drums (Tony Nesbitt-Larking) the combination is unconventional, yet somehow obvious, reminiscient of early Joanna Newsom with the indie-jazz sensibility of Stereolab.

The Jessica Stuart Few's sound is transporting, described as "a fantasy and serene mystery with delicate yet powerfully alluring vocals" by Snap Toronto, and their upcoming album, Two Sides To Every Story co-produced by Mischa Chillak (Notes To Self, K-OS ) and mixed by Ian Bodzasi (Sam Roberts, Hey Rosetta) muses over themes of work and play, right versus wrong.

While touching on these themes of duality, the band still approaches the music with an upbeat, making-the-most-of-life attitude. Says Jessica, "I love that I can play out my musical whims with unconventional rhythms and out-of-the-ordinary harmony -- and still get the crowd to connect on the dance floor."

Always keen to engage the audience and community, on and off the stage, the trio has been involved in many community-oriented projects connecting music with visual art, film and fashion. Their recent Kid Dream music video, currently in rotation on BravoTV, is one such example, involving the art of 80 volunteer participants and was listed in the best of 2011 by Now Magazine. The band has also just launched "Playbacks", a collaboration with Toronto vintage stores, and "Bands in Pajamas" where they join great local bands to rock out in their pjs.

The Jessica Stuart Few have had a number of songs in rotation on CBC Radio 1 & 2, since their last release in April 2010, with "Kid Dream" listed in Don Ross's top 10 on CBC's 'Inside The Music'. The first single, "Don't Ya" from the soon to be released Two Sides To Every Story, was already named Song Of The Week on CBC 1, in March 2012.

Along with accomplished bandmates Tony Nesbitt-Larking and Dan Fortin (Serena Ryder, The Most Serene Republic, Tanika Charles & The Wonderfuls), The Jessica Stuart Few was nominated for a 2012 TIMA in the Best Live Performance category and have played festival stages across the country, including North By North East (NXNE), the TD Toronto Jazz Festival, Canadian Music Week, and The Brampton Indie Arts Festival. The band has also shared the stage with bands like Maylee Todd, The Odds, By Divine Right, Steve Poltz and Elizabeth Shepherd.

Bitten young by the travel bug, Jessica has toured Japan, Turkey, US, Australia, England and will continue this summer on a three week western Canadian stint in promotion of The Jessica Stuart Few's Canada & Ontario Arts Council supported album, Two Sides To Every Story.
