Find the best financial services for you at: SMARTFINANCESOLUTIONS.NET - Question about school parking tickets.? - I'm a senior in college who is about to graduate in a few months. I have recently gotten a hold on my account due to unpaid parking fines - parking fines that have been accumulated since 2006. br br I was always told that if there is anything that I owe to the school, the university would immediately put a hold on my account. br I was told by former students that they had gotten away with unpaid parking fines. So, I foolishly thought I was able to get away with it since there was no hold on my account during class registrations or when I filled out my graduation application. There was no hold until a week ago. br Obviously, if had I known, I would have adhered to the parking rules immediately and paid my tickets. br br Now the school is demanding that I pay $1,100, five years of tickets, otherwise I will not be able to graduate and receive my diploma. I need that diploma so that I can be accepted to a teach abroad program in South Korea and start working. br br I am an unemployed student whose family is getting evicted and parents who both declared bankruptcy. br br If my school had informed me sooner, this would have never happened, and I would not be in this situation. br br Is the school wrong? Is there anything I can do to fight this? br br I don't want to take this any further but I strongly believe that what the university did was unjust. br They had known that I was breaking the rules for five years now but yet did not notify me until the last minute as if they were shadily trying to squeeze more money out of me. br br I do not mind paying for some of it because I do see it as partially my fault for listening to bad advice.
