1923 Conn Victor

1923 Conn Victor

Singin' the Blues Beiderbecke 1927 br br There is a good chance that in 1927 Bix Beiderbecke played this solo of Singing the Blues on his Conn Victor cornet. Many jazz musicians like Jimmy McPartland as well as Max Kaminsky ( see Max and his Conn with me in 1978) played that type of cornet as well. br I always had the Conn Victor on my wishlist. In 2001 I found a 1923 big bore cornet in mint condition. Serial number 206480, apparently that horn was manufactured in Elkhart, Ind. br Both Simon Stribling and I played the horn during the 2002 Victoria Jazz Festival. br Now I like to sell this beauty. I'm used to a medium bore instrument and my Bach Stradivarius short model cornet is most comfortable. br The horn is almost like new, No dents, no decay, valves are tight and not worn and the satin silver plating is 100. The horn has a gold wash bell. During obvious restoration the 'automatic A adjuster' was removed and the horn was tuned to Bb. br At the time of purchase I learned that this horn was sold by a musician friend from a fellow euphonium player's estate, who had been a long time brass instruments collector. Apparently several of his horns were sold to a museum in the United Kingdom. br In this video you see some of the details on the (perfect) condition. If you are interested in a quality horn that is a collector's item as well and realize that this horn is certainly worth more than US$ 600 contact me.
