La collection America est une fenêtre ouverte sur la musique américaine du XXe siècle, qu'elle soit Classique, Blues ou Jazz. Ces sept anthologies, comprenant chacune 2 CD, permettent de pénétrer au cœur de tous ces répertoires, d'en appréhender l'origine, la raison d'être et l'évolution. Tout d'abord l'Amérique comme terre d'accueil pour les nouveaux immigrés, puis pour les artistes victimes du nazisme et du stalinisme. Plus tard les USA modernes ou post-modernes de John Cage, George Crumb ou Leonard Bernstein, et après un détour par Broadway, la musique qui s'inscrit au carrefour de toutes, celle de George Gershwin.

The AMERICA collection presents a glimpse of american music of the 20th century whether classical (harmonia mundi boxes), blues or jazz (Le Chant du Monde). Each of these seven anthologies penetrates the heart of different catalogues to understand the origin, purpose and evolution between America's haven for new immigrants and later on for victims of Nazism and Stalinism in Europe. The compositions of modern and post-modern composers are highlighted with John Cage, George Crumb or Leonard Bernstein and, after a detour by Broadway, George Gershwin.
