Brazil has the largest prison population in Latin America, and the fourth largest, globally. There are currently more than half a million people behind bars there. In the past ten years, Brazil's prison population has more than doubled. One of the main reasons for overcrowding is delays within the justice system. Al Jazeera's Gabriel Elizondo takes a look at the conditions at the central prison in the Southern city of Porto Alegre.
