Skeleton competitors race down an icy track just like in bobsleigh or luge events. But unlike for luge they lie head-first on their stomachs. At the start of the race, competitors push the sled using one or both handles. A good start often means a good finishing position. The competitor aims to find the ideal course to finish the race as quickly as possible.
