The only thing more moving than Judi Dench's exit from the Bond series is her performance in Philomena as a woman searching for her son, who was taken from her by the Catholic Church decades earlier. Her thoughtful, restrained take on a character brimming with regret and anger was rightfully recognized by the Academy.

Her performance in Rob Marshall's Nine, on the other hand, is probably best forgotten by all involved. Talented as the Dame may be, we didn't really need to see her atop a piano in a French burlesque number. The rest of this convoluted musical didn't find much else for her to do either. Skip it and check out Philomena instead -- or at least re-watch Skyfall.
