A 20-year-old Australian man has made headlines around the word after getting himself stuck, while naked, in a washing machine. The incident occurred on Saturday (January 4) in the town of Mooroopna, in Victoria state.

The man allegedly was trying to surprise his girlfriend one Saturday evening and decided to get naked and hide, in the washing machine. He successfully climbed in, but soon found himself trapped in the device.

The young man told local reporters he had always been a "practical joker" and he thought popping out naked from the washing machine would be a funny surprise for his girlfriend. The man, who stands some 190 centimeters tall, said he never imagined it would be possible to get stuck in a washing machine.

Upon arriving home, the man's girlfriend heard his pleas for help, but unable to extricate him, she called firefighter, who were also unable to pull him out of the machine.

finally, the rescuers used copious amounts of olive oil and were able to wriggle the man out of the washing machine. While the man was not hurt in the incident, he did tell Australian media he was grateful to the emergency services personnel who freed him--also noting he was thankful they acted professionally and "did not ask too many questions."

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation did offer some advice from First Constable Luke Ingram, who said, "My advice would be for people not to climb into appliances - obviously that [can] cause a number of issues, as we've seen on the weekend."
