In Pakistan, bonded labour is still prevalent despite legislation against it in the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act 1992 & Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Rules 1995. An alarming high number of bonded labourers work long hours under poor conditions, often to repay debt.
