I'll share with you what this condition is, the negative effects of it as well as some thoughts on eliminating it. br br As you can probably guess having a sadistic personality is being evil. Purposely going out of someone's way to harm and injure someone else. Someone with this disorder gets pleasure and satisfaction with destroying other people. br br The school yard shootings that have been taking place. The Boston Marathon bomber all examples of sadistic personalities. This also includes humiliating people in people from their peers. br br This disorder was taken out of the DSM or Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. One of the theories why it was taken out was so criminals couldn't use it as a legal defense. br br Having something very bad happen to someone you care about and the culprit goes free due to a botched legal system, can make a person go mad. This is reminds me of the movie “Law Abiding Citizen” with Gerard Butler. He takes justice into his own hands after the legal system fails to deliver justice. br br Of course the million dollar question that many people want to know after a big tragedy is why did the person do it? This reminds me of a saying I heard “the more you like yourself, the more you like other people.” br br Do you think that is true? I've heard that Adolf Hitler had Jewish ancestors, and he hated that about himself. One of the theories on why someone is sadistic and cruel to others is it's a form of self harm. br br Shared existence with others through pain. I recently read “Intensity” by Dean Koontz and the serial killer enjoyed giving himself pain. Another idea is abuse or neglect growing up. We all have role models growing up and who we surround ourselves with influences us to some degree. br br Yea, If I surround myself with extremely funny people like Will Farrell or Kevin Heart all day long I will be funny. Or I will just look stupid at their expense and they will be funny. br br Maybe deep down some comedies are a little sadistic. There is some cruelty to all forms of comedy right? They are on stage getting some pleasure from others. Comedy is mentally pulling the rug out of someone as they stand there, then fall down. br br Obviously physically hurting others is very destructive and a reason for post traumatic stress syndrome. br Another book I'm reading right now is called “On Killin” by Dave Grossman. One of the things he says is the closer people get to each other the less likely they want to kill. br br Oh, and most of the time people don't want to look at another person's face when they kill them.
