Fallwinter 1998 was an epic exhibition, inspired by Joan of Arc, which was very tough, very sexy... the setting was incredibly atmospheric, and the show ended with the amazing ring of fire. br Taking another inspiration from what McQueen himself called "doomed women". br The finale of this collection clearly represented how Joan of Arc was prosecuted by burning at the stake. McQueen sent the model down the runway, "styled like molten ash that has solidified ... and at the end of it, she had centred herself on the catwalk and a ring of fire sprung up around her" br 13-years later, Lady Gaga received her 2009 MTV Music Award in a vintage red lace ensemble from Alexander McQueen's hell-raising 1998 collection.
