Experiment #4: Butter br br (Originally uploaded on YouTube on October 30, 2012) br br br (Rated G) In a slight departure from the first three videos I decided rather than a whole bunch of narration filler, I'd try a "to the point" type of video where I do it all in one take. Despite containing the same bunch of "early installment weirdness" like me talking as if I'm filming a home movie rather than to an audience, bantering about unrelated things, and still treating this as an inside joke, there is one very significant change. I reduced the amount of off-topic banter and filming in a single sitting, this is the last video that stated in the original in the description that I was pretty much expecting it to not make it past season 2, and the "speedier" format is one that more resembles a style I'd move towards beginning in the middle of season 2. I was still experimenting with styles, but in a way this was the first that moved towards what I would want. I'd temporarily move back to a long-handed style but after this the "home movie" style banter would be phased out and slowly replaced with talking to my audience. As far as the experiment itself. It's very mundane, yes, but it's also fairly interesting for what it is. You can actually watch the butter melt before your eyes. One weird thing that I changed is that I dropped the straight narration tone after this for the remainder of season one and would occasionally bring it back in later seasons but it didn't become the main style until around season 5 or season 6. Which goes to show I had one thing right all along and that was not to play up a character but to narrate this as myself. br br Despite the initial views of the hot pockets video being impressive for what it was, the views in later videos are making me wonder if posting to DailyMotion is a mistake or not.
