Angela Wybrow - Dancing Dragonflies

Angela Wybrow - Dancing Dragonflies

The first time I saw some dragonflies, br I could not quite believe my eyes. br They darted around by the willow trees, br With such sheer agility and amazing ease. br br I had thought it an illusion, but it is true: br Their bodies really do shine electric blue. br Across the water, the dragonflies danced; br I watched their antics, feeling entranced. br br Through the air, the dragonflies zoomed: br Like little lights, in the shadowy gloom. br Dancing about where the light was dimmer, br Their bright blue bodies shone and shimmered. br br They gave the most skilful flying display, br And I couldn't quite drag my eyes away. br They really were such an awesome sight; br I couldn't help but give a gasp of delight. br br One landed nearby, upon the railing br Of the boat, on which I was sailing. br My camera, from my lap, I slowly raised, br But, sensing my movement, it flew away. br br A most charming sight these creatures made, br And I really wish that I could have stayed. br From beneath the willows, the boat pulled away, br But I will always remember that summer's day.
