He inherited a small empire, br Through valour and bloody br Wars he made a huge empire br Through the years of br His early rule from Iran br To vietnam, from Himalyas br To the south of India, suppressing br All that who rose against him. br br Once when he was the banks br Of Ganges, which turned red, br With the bloody war he led, br He saw an old woman searching br For her dead son's boody, br Weeping all the while, making br The lion hearted melt in pity, br And hating the acts he did. br Thence came a saint and told br Him of Buddha and his ideals, br Of giving alms, oneness br Of mankind which Asoka br Adopted and spread throughout, br His empire which one and all br Took to for centuries together. br Asoka did build monuments, br In the name of Buddha and love, br Which spread all over the east.
