Tony Beckingham - Helios

Tony Beckingham - Helios

I am the light br I bring warmth and fire br I bring light and illumination br Into the dark corners of the stable br br I bring the glow of fire br The patterns in the flames br The muse of dancing shapes br The scent of wood-smoke br The sound of crackling embers br br I originate from a spark br Flint against steel, sun through quartz br And fed with downy tinder br I will grow br br Tended with intent br Nurtured and fed br I will grow and blaze br br I am the heat that splits the desert rocks br But also the warmth that draws seeds to flower in the cracks br I am the blaze that melts the ice br From the rigid freezer round the heart br And drips it, dropp by drop br Into the pool below br Sending ripples ever outward br I move mountains to dust br To fertilise the fields br And feed the lush oases br br I am Bel, the warrior queen br Drawing forth life where none exists br But also frying the weak and stunted br Courage is my other side br The fire that leaps br Where angels fear to tread br The lightning strike br That splits the tower br And frees the captive br Aethyrs from the dungeon deep. br br But where to find the spark? br It is a gift from the sun within.
