Vanessa Kingsley - Expectations

Vanessa Kingsley - Expectations

I didn't want a bouquet of roses br Jewelry br Or box of chocolates br I didn't want a romantic evening br Because with, you I'd be fine br But I at least wanted a phone call br Yo didn't have to buy a card br You didn't have to write a poem saying how in love you are br I at least wanted a message br Internet or otherwise br But maybe your 'I love you's' br Were just a bunch a lies br Honestly, I'm not hurt br Or mad br Or disappointed br Honestly, I knew you wouldn't br Call or message at all br Honestly, I thought you'd prove me wrong. br I thought you'd say those words to me br But then I laughed at the thought and how silly it would be br I hoped that you would prove me wrong br But even when we met I knew br That you wouldn't be the one br I never brought the subject up br Or dropp those annoying clues br I did what I always have br And left it up to you br I didn't ask for candy br Or a moonlit night br I didn't ask for flowers br Or for you to spend the night br I didn't ask for anything br I thought a message I might get br But, sadly, I got nothing br The same as every year br I should've never started hoping br Even if the hope was small br Especially if I had to ask br For you to at least call. br To show that you loved me at all.
