Norman Santos - Home Alone

Norman Santos - Home Alone

I watched time crumble br On the brick floor's slumber br From its fated machinism br And the pallid light of summer br Leaning wearily on the walls br Escaped the frosted windows br With a somnolent opalescence br A wan and aimless escapade, br Such a dreamy afternoon br Where life pounces keeling out br Of gravity and vibrant hues br A slumbering dog, poignant from br The absence of barks and bones br An empty set of walls br Once a place called home br br The house swooned over br From its winding knee br And struggling loop of br Tightrope heraldries, br Like the collapse of lungs br As a breath of verve escapes and br Heaves back with a titanic space br To accentuate the hollow break, br Topple and restore, filling emptiness br Without making a sound, br Without any motion, but br The absence of the souls br That became its constitutions br Floods the vivid light with gloom br And the summer is contained br Within a wintry solitude inside br The lone yearning bones br br The curtains unruffled, br The floor spread wider, br The ceiling climbed loftier, br And the saudade croons br Played in the air waves br With laughs and simpers br Tinkering the static br And in this chamber, br For now, I'm home alone br Yet, soon, this place br Would be abandoned br By my trifle entity and br The company of my soliloquy br But not of my yearning br And shadows and shards br And lone feeling in the solitariness br That makes this place a home.
