Jagannath rao Adukuri - A poem for the slum kids

A nerd bitten by the charity bug, br Spoke of slum children’s education br And shining darkness in their eyes. br In the shanties, the water flows br Like a shadow in cloudy daylight br And smells bad to the kind rich. br My check glistens in the dark br Like a meteorite on a dark night br In the next moment it vanishes br In the depths of hunger and belly. br Other men have fat bank accounts br But are spiritual for soul-hunger. br Poetry sounds crassly out of place- br One would wish the black sewer br Is not talked about in prose as well.
