I've heard it mentioned many times br 'a broken heart'. br Ah I thought, a sentimental time br a time of wishing that someone dear br was not so very far from here. br But no! br How ignorant of me; br now I feel it inside, br shattered, broken, bleeding, bruised, br and not by one event br not the missing of a loved one br who had been heaven sent. br br No this is a broken heart br caused by realisation of suffering; br by suffering the realisation br that there is so much pain, br and fear; br and it breaks hearts. br And how does that feel? br Like the crimson life force seeps away br into a gutter of deep despair. br br Give me a bandage of hope br and a tourniquet of courage br and a surgeon of faith, br that the flow may be stemmed. br Let peace and tranquillity br flow unhindered throughout all br so that mans' heart may heal, br because it is broken; br I know. br The only cure found in complete rest.
