Dr John Celes - Sonnet: Ruling People

No form of government vouches for the poor; br All love to lie and cheat and steal from all; br They like to stay corrupt, blunder and err; br Their own upliftment is their clarion call! br br When once empowered by people’s strong mandate, br Receiving bribes becomes their daily spree; br Thenceforth, they care not for the poor man’s fate; br A wealth-sucker of souls, they try to be! br br The people’s power is used to subjugate; br Influence, clout become their thickest friends; br Their time is used to pilfer, devastate; br From rulers, they transform to be fiends! br br No form of government ideally is good! br When greed enters hearts, poisonous turns the food! br br Copyright by Dr John Celes 5-6-2013br br Dr John Celesbr br
