Terry Donovan - THE EMPTY BOXES

Terry Donovan - THE EMPTY BOXES

Turn left at the lighthouse br And follow the coast inland br Past deserted villages br That used to be so grand. br br Past the little ramshack café br Where the Vikings stopped for tea br Past the fallen arches br And the sheriff's favourite tree. br br Down into the valley br On the road of no return br And there's nothing on the signposts br Where the wicker houses burn. br br By the fried and dried-up river br Where the cows no longer stray br And if you see a mushroom farm br Where children used to play br br You're nearly there already br Though you're never really far br From where the clock says ten past two br And the empty boxes are.
