Louise Marie DelSanto - Winter/1962

Louise Marie DelSanto - Winter/1962

On Sundays my sister and I br would walk two miles to church br our heads covered in kerchiefs br our young bodies shivering br a gust of Winter following our path. br br I would complain, telling my sister br how I hated him br Him, who had given me my own room, br a radiator screaming hot at br seven a.m., and my windows delicate br with snowflakes from the night before. br br The big house on the hill, they br called it, br at night I remember it all br the sounds of my brothers and sister br the smells of my mother's cooking br . br I wish I could go back, I wish br I could go back and thank him.
