Michael Ciminio's Heaven's Gate was released in 1980, weighing in at 216 minutes, and WAAAY too much money. Steven Soderburgh recently took a crack at cutting it to a more reasonable size. Now, the original cut was the paragon of directorial excess, but was it 100 too excessive. We'll be curious to see what the critics make of it.
