Gillian.E. Shaw - J - Exile. (A Jacobite Poem)

He left to watch his father die br and accusations flew br like poison barbs; brawn from on high br knaves dishonor and defame br play dangerous devious games. br br Hand on the dirk we pledged our aid br cared nought for such deceit br so run hit hide the highland way br loyal, brave with white cockade br constant, watchful... we'll read him yet! br br We'll read him yet so turn the leaf; br Why quill so much maligned? br Four, six, seven then Marguerite's br fragile petals on canvas speak br out: of a sovereign marriage bed. br br The searching, soulless, furious, cry br ' 'tis a tissue of lies! ' br Destruction bent and blind by pride. br Thus guard, keep her and defend br steadfast, unyielding to the end. br br The reason? An aforesaid name br a future commitment and a claim. br br For Prince Michael of Albany br August 2006br br Gillian.E.
