Michael Troy Buffo - Life's Thin Line or Upon The Window

As I look into the darkness br From the light of my room, br To find nothing in any direction, br Upon the window I notice br (Foreshadowed by gloom) br The image of my own reflection br br I see my posture’s correct br (Though leaning towards age) br And a soft knowing glint in my eyes br But the glass won’t reflect br What my destiny will stage br Nor can the stars in the skies br br So here in my realm, br I wait as a puppet br To see how my life shall unfold br With my fate at the helm br (Without aid of a parapet) br To decide how my life shall be told br br Now I know what I’ll see, br When the night turns to day br And the sun shines its light on the Earth: br A lone blossoming tree br In a field full of hay br And small animals that dance in their mirth br br But my reflected features br Will come to me not br For the Sun’s light is much brighter than mine br And the gods laugh in their bleachers, br As I ponder my lot, br And concede to walk life’s thin linebr br Michael Troy Buffobr br
