God told them all they must forget, br and start their lives anew once Sodom burned, br but one of them was so beset br by grief for family and friends she turned br to look behind and was appalled. br Since God could not forgive that she forgot br His words, He turned her into salt, br a pillar looking backwards, Mrs. Lot. br He thought, “Don't dwell upon the past, ” br and kashered her with salt to make her sever br her spirit from her flesh, recast br as monument to memory forever. br Her blood, which is the spirit, drained br away because her flesh had been corrupted br by past events that she complained br hot brimstoned fire cruelly interrupted, br though when she looked behind, some say, br she wasn’t looking backwards at the past, br but froze when trying to survey br the future, gazing gnostically aghast.
