Written: August 26,2004 br br The birthday cards were always signed “I love you”- br Every special holiday he knew just what to do. br But the days in between, he would tend to forget- br Sometimes say things he'd later regret. br br Busy with work and meetings here or there- br She began to feel he just didn't care. br He spoke more to his partners than she- br Time taken from her for his perfect law degree br br She stood by his side through it all- br Even the nights he worked late and forgot to call. br He would always make it up in some special way- br Roses and an “I love you card” would do what he couldn't say. br br Never once did he speak those 3 little words aloud- br Merely relied on cards to portray the things he long ago vowed. br As time went on, she gave up on things getting changed- br Realized that their relationship was completely estranged. br br One day she decided to just let go- br When he asked why-she only said “It's because of what you didn't show- br “No emotions at all-everything written not spoken- br So now I must walk away with my heart broken.” br br br ©2004 Candice Martinbr br Candice M.
