behold she stands alone in the street, br there she is, this single protester br standing with her placard and chanting br slogans, and her outraged thoughts br sings with fierce force of voice, br her right to be heard, br br if she is alone and solitary, her br cause must be frivolous whimsical, br are there no other champions to join, br yet her voice carries over the roof tops br and the walls hear her anger, and the streets, br the sorrow and melancholy of the children br br they are hungry, the bottomless pit of br fear and want, have beseeched their thin bodies br and weak frames, she does not cry for alms br for handouts and food stamps, she cries br for employment and fair wages in the 21st br is there no one to join the solitary protester, br br the government shrugs and br even patrons have disappeared br still she stands, till a police wagon br give her a citation and warn br protesting is illegal without a license, br carries her off, leaving the children br at the curb br br where did we go wrong, br saying, the setup up is to blame br and the profiteers, doesn't fill the stomach br or stop the tearsbr br shimon weinrothbr br
