Adrian Wait - Before the Golden Bowl was Broken

Adrian Wait - Before the Golden Bowl was Broken

Days amble by br From childhood to youth br Songbirds seldom heard br Sunrise rarely welcomed br In our haste to be br We cast away days br Long into the night br We reach for this br And stretch for that… br make our mark br don’t look back br Time on demand br We write our name br Upon the sand br At waters edge br longing for the sea br to sweep away the mark br another day to be br br The ticking of a clock br Unnoticed speeds away br A thousand days br And fifty years br Overflow the Golden bowl br We reach for this br And stretch for that… br To make our mark br We don’t look back br And then one day we find br On the far side of our world br An unfamiliar face in the mirror br for the years have gone, br spent, never to return br decades have sailed away br Our windows they grow faint br Days unfold before the dawn br Swiftly greeted and there gone br br Abruptly we find fewer years br In front than there are Behind br Sound from the street br Fades to a whisper br Awake before the songbird now br And shorter nights remind us br the days before the silver br chord is severed… grow short br yet the moon will rise br and the sun will set br somewhere in time br we long forget br where smiles lift the heart br once more days of youth await, and if br ill spent they return in dreams br memories sweet… memories spoken br fear not the shadows of the night br before the golden bowl was broken br br br br br A.R.
