Alek Lenth - A Whale of a Tale

The ship, it sinks br And to my loss br A cable grabs my leg br br I take a breath br And watch the many passengers br Scream bubbles in despair br br And as the last light ripples br A whale comes br And drifts br br The whale gives a strong br But melancholy song br And I see her eat br Each thing that peeps br Bubbles, foot and all br br I dare not move br But hold my head br Fixed, as she comes near br br She grabs the anchors br Of the ship br And with me br Starts to fall br br In the blackest of her eye br She tells a tale: br br The whale wanders br From shoal to pole br Skirting her calfling along br With the tip of her fin br She smiles at him br And lifts whenever he falls br br But the story she tells br Is of flight br And of fear... br br They chase and she turns br From the ice to the deep br But she knows they are fast br At fin br br They chase and she turns br But soon after she learns br That the calfling will drown br In the deep br br She lifts as she can br But with only a fin br She cannot hug br Or defend br br So instead she br Presents to the sky br Her young lamb br And soon after br The feast begins br br I fear of a world br That scares mothers br But I have only br The time to cry: br br Woe...To the red..In the deep...Of the sea br To mothers, your young ones may die.
