Gary Witt - Walking Out One Morning

Gary Witt - Walking Out One Morning

Throughout the night, I’ve felt a growing dread; br A dark sensation in my neck and back br That seizes reason, breaks my harrowed soul. br It is a voice from deep within myself, br Not mine, but one that tells me it is mine. br br I have absorbed its stinging, hurtful lies, br And taken them to heart as I would truth. br And I have wondered where to go, and how br To draw my strength from suffering that roils br Around a brooding mind, now petrified. br br I cannot stem this swelling tide of pain, br So I must walk from knowing and from doubt. br Now let thy servant please depart in peace. br Now may I leave this wincing part behind— br Give up this fear that I have memorized.
