Samer Madbak - Poem 036: Flash of Joy

Behold that wonder in its rising path br Behold it levitating from the strath br Whisp’ring to me, I answer Beauty’s call, br I hurry to the roof… I start to scrawl br A pastoral to one celestial Dame; br Though words unfitting, and my language lame br br For here again, this enigmatic sight, br Those fluffy clouds of magic milky white br The witching pallor of this witching view, br The friendly chill, the air, this bonny hue br Are fine a theme to what I now indite; br A poem to express a diff’rent plight… br br Anon the drifting mist condenses more, br The drizzle much persistent than before br I rush for shelter ‘neath that covered nook, br My fancies also rush into my book: br A letter from my devastated core br To Her alone whom truly I adore. br br I stare… the haze now draws a thicker veil br Concealing from my eyes the mighty Dale. br Swathing the hamlet in its mystery br My soul is rapt in full felicity. br The drizzle’s now a rain, the breeze a gale br And lo! My screed turns out to be a tale.
