Avarice br (or Greed) victims were showered br with cauldrons of boiling oil. The Gluttonous br were fed rats, toads and hissing snakes. While br the lustful amongst us were merely smothered br in everlasting fire and brimstone. br br Salvation, by way of the seven contrary virtues br delivered souls to heaven above. br These counteractions were guaranteed by br Humility against Pride br Chastity against Lust br Kindness against Envy br Abstinence against Gluttony br Patience against Anger br Liberality against Greed br Diligence against Sloth br br Worthiness of redemption could also be purloined by a designated br tithe to the local medieval priest. “Good Works” as well, entered br into the confessional equation for eternal forgiveness: br Feed the hungry br Give drink to the thirsty br Give shelter to strangers br Clothe the naked br Visit the sick br Minister to prisoners br Or bury the dead. br br br Authors Note: Regardless of these noble altruistic behaviors, (which usually occur late in life) , I would hope eternal rewards exclude the unrepentative, immoral, shiftless, self-gratifying, good-for-nothing, arrogant shits, that continue to profit in the commercialization and packaging of death by sin.
