Stug Jordan - The Dam

He tried to construct a moat br when he was five, br and a single dam built between br his excavated br horseshoe of lifted sand. br And he’s so careful br picking out unwanted stones, br before impatience assaults br the dam at the tower’s side, br a castle crowned in sun and beach, br and the avalanche br that makes him dig again. br And for five he’s so meticulous, br excavating his moat br from sheer collapse. br A considerate architect, br the faithful believer br in the floor of blue stones, br lined like a nave for br the awkward waters, br the running spill from the sea.
