I hear drums sound by the river br A sound like thunder makes me shiver br Calling us to war br For I know it’s the cannons roar br br To my family I must say good bye br The smoke in the distant sky br As we go off to fight br Is blocking out the light br br Knowing I will see death today br A duty to fight for our pay br So many will fall br To hear the patriots call br br Praying that our families will be safe br Close to battle now calling on our faith br As we march along br The enemy singing its song br br Many friends will fall fighting for the right br “Charge”! ! ! comes the order as we face the cannons might br For freedom is the battle cheer br In mass with no fear br br The cannon cuts us down blood and bone all around br So many friends I have lost today falling on the ground br Tears in my eyes as I look from side to side br But my tears I cannot hide br br Why are we fighting why are we here br As we get closer to the cannons has the enemy no fear? br I cannot hide, my eyes they are full of tears br Looking in the enemies faces they also shed a tear br br Will these wars ever end after all we are all the same? br Our leaders always tell us we have to fight is it them we should blame? br All that war gives us is blood and pain! ! ! ! ! ! br Should we have listened to them they are clearly insane?br br Dennis Walkerbr br
