Mike Tonkin - Summer 1952

Mike Tonkin - Summer 1952

That heat drenched summer br Long passed now, br That summer br How we loved lying on the lazy sand. br Sun soaked, br Bodies close together br Love cloaked. br Searching the endless sky br With eyes br Filled with ecstasy. br Time stilled. br Hearing the siren sea br Calling us br From the long dune grass br Windquivering. br Standing in the midst of emptyness br Alone on the hushing strand br In utter carelessness. br Running, fingers clasped br Through eternity, br Over the barren beach br Completely free. br Soothing in the coolness of the sea br Spirits bruised by passion's br Fierce intensity. br Oh, how we loved that summer br Long passed now. br That summer how we loved.
