Dr John Celes - What Children Want Their Parents to do …?

Allow me to be born, mother – br Into the world, God made; br And let me glorify my Lord br In life, before I fade! br br Allow me to grow well, father, br Into a healthy child; br And let me do great feats on earth, br Unlike a flow’r in wild! br br Give me some special love, mother, br And nurture me with care; br Do spend enough time with your child – br ‘I am your earthen-ware! ’ br br Protect me father, while I’m young, br Support my life’s bare needs; br I do not want to be orphaned, br Or taught to do misdeeds! br br Take care of all my wants, parents, br Climb me up life’s ladder; br The modern world gives bleak chances; br Keep me always gladder! br br Help me to walk and run and play; br Help me to stand erect; br Help me to talk and read all day; br Help me to be perfect. br br Do hug me, kiss me, embrace me; br Don’t cane me unfairly; br Bathe me, dress me and keep me clean; br Let me do things freely! br br Oh, do not neglect me parents; br I need you by my side; br Until I’m old enough to stand br Alone, and in God abide! br br Help me to realize my God, br In everything I do; br Oh, let me serve my Maker well, br Through fellowmen, and you.
