Yesterday I swam, the water cold, br frothing, exhilarating; swam for a br quarter of an hour in icy water - felt br like a rebirth, the cold washing all br my sorrows away, making me feel br young and strong, ready to face life, br to laugh at my destiny, ready to tackle br life in a new way, a sudden thrust of br excitement and vigour, spent time in br a hot bath to defrost again; I can’t wait br to leave the office for another dive into br the reviving cold; run, seconds run, make br haste, minutes pass – I want to revive my br flagging spirits again; oh swimming pool, br here comes the crocodile fantasising that br I’m floating in the Orinoco!br br Margaret Alicebr br
