O.S. Brooks - Death, we have danced

I ran the other day br Breathing heavy out of shape br Like I had half a lung to go on br When my time in the army popped into my head br I tried within myself to recapture the moment br The moment is gone br I died in side when I left br So yes, Death, she and I have danced before br br I was a sergeant back then br Telling others when to shoot br move- br communicate- br Training the next batch of killers br When my own brainwash ran off br I died the day I couldn't pretend br So yes, Death, she and I are friends br br I hate being this way br So dark br So dismal br My thoughts run like burnt colors on a canvas br I drank water from a river and filled my canteen br hoping my sacrofice was worth it br hoping that my return was perfect br but it was defective br I died when I had no friend to rely on br My mother was there for me br And always will be br That's what mothers do br She alone has stood the test br So yes, in my time, I've met death... br Besides family br Everyone else br Can meet her toobr br O.S.
