JAMES T. ADAIR - The Sirens Sound, It's 5 AM

The sirens sound, it's 5 AM br I'm still alive, I think I am br The sirens aren't for me br It's for them br br The cars race down the Avenue br The fire trucks honk their horns br I can hear them but they're out of view br My first thought is to think of you br br I'm startled and think of fire br Someone hurting across town br As the call comes across the wire br And the smoke rises higher br br I say a silent prayer br that nobody is harmed br but I still feel alarmed br I think of you and feel unarmed br br I need you more than I say br It hurts so much that we’re far away br I wonder if you think of me anyway br I wish things weren't this way br br The birds are waking up in the nearby tree br The owl in the distance hoots, as if to me br In your arms is where I wish I could be br I dream of you lying next to me br br and suddenly I feel so lonely br I can't go on much longer living this way br We need to rearrange life somehow br So we can start a life together br br Why can’t I say it out loud br Why is it stuck inside me br The word I need somehow to say… br ..stay!br br JAMES T.
