Brian Taylor - MIRRORS OF OUR TIME

THE ECONOMY is a hose. br The Government collects water from the people br and pours it into the top of the hose br and gives it back to the people. br Near the top of the hose is a hole. br A lot of the water pours out of this into a tank br marked Government which is always empty. br The rest flows down towards the people. br It passes other holes marked br Government Agencies br Government buildings br Government contingencies br Government perks br There are also holes marked br Lawyers br Accountants br Criminals. br The Government is always trying br to stop these last three holes. br Finally what is left of the water br reaches people at the end of the hose. br The people fight over it br (it is never enough) . br When they get very thirsty they start br to throw stones at the government br and threaten to sack them. br The government then reluctantly br pours more water into the top of the hose br (which they get from the people) . br Finally when the people are very thirsty indeed, br under the leadership of the br Lawyers br Accountants br and other Criminals, br they attack the tank marked Government br and break it open. br It is always empty. br Then many of the people die br (except for the Lawyers, Accountants br and other Criminals.) br The survivors go off and look for a new well, br drink as much as they can br as quickly as they can br and wait for a new Government to find them.
