A friend of mine invited me br On his birthday ceremony br He arranged to express his glee, br When reached the age of forty three. br br His house was adorned like a bride; br Everything there was beautified; br The birthday song was sung aside; br My friend looked as if puffed with pride. br br Gladly the candles were lighted; br The cake was cut and divided br Among those who were invited; br A scene of rapture was sighted. br br Though for my friend’s life I did pray, br My thoughts went the opposite way.
