Hanque O . . . - I Want to be a Methodist

for Linda br br I want to be a Methodist. br I need to be coddled, welcomed, br Made to feel a part of the whole. br I am tired of being a rock, an island; br I want to be a volvox! br Will you let be join your group? br I will join committees, I promise. br I will even head the youth group br If you want me to. I cannot bake. br But I know someone who can. br Will you let me join? I have some br Doubts about the Resurrection. br Is that a problem? br I think forgiveness is an easy-out, br That the rules of God br Were intended to be obeyed; br I believe in consequences. br Can we talk? br I believe, I know, that we are br All born innocent, without stain; br What stain we have, we acquire. br Not important, is it? br When I die, please do not say br I am in a better place; do not tell br The sheep that Jesus called me home— br Home is in the here and now. br Okay? br I really do want to be a Methodist. br These little quirks of mine br Are trifles. Am I right? br If you let me join, I will be good, br I am not one to agitate.br br Hanque O . . .
