Guillermo Veloso - What Carbon and Water Allow

Guillermo Veloso - What Carbon and Water Allow

Smoothed like a gemstone br Now alone in the mine br Grey and full br Left to my thoughts and dreams of yesterday br Left to a now that is here and gone, playing hide and seek with br Masks and plays br We are what our muses allow br We are what carbon and water allow br Memory is harsh, memory is persistent and memory must die br Time to break the skin and emerge once again br Time for last blossoms br Encores, eternal, ephemeral, etcetera, br Coffee stains and notebooks br On this grey dawn br Bring chilled birdsong br A cardinal seeks its mate at dawn’s soft Kaddish to night br Lone in the bare branch, (as am I) who could have known br But time, that I would be where I could be and left to turn in the breeze as the last fall leaf br Stink bugs lie in their stink bug grave on my sill; hallowed carcass of a hollowed life br Left in the jungle at Mayan dawn,10 foot down with ghosts, calves and snails br Naked at dusk, covered in ancient dust and now a feast for gnawing bitesbr br Guillermo Velosobr br
