Adrian Wait - I am my Neighbour.

Adrian Wait - I am my Neighbour.

Spiritual truth is ageless br Words of poets, prophets br Echo down the corridors br We are geographically one br Ours is the tolling bell br Void of passion… the ghosts br Compassion and goodwill br Segregated, identity our priority br The ally of indifference is time br Tomorrow, tomorrow, or someday br Conserve the now, reinforce Me! br Wear a wristband sing a hymn br Dreamwishing for change br The power for control br Who is in, and who is out br Whilst promises remain br Unfulfilled, broken… br When will former things br Pass away, when we feed br The poor, free the oppressed br And no one, no one laughed br Diaries burst with meetings br Conferences, doing not being br Dizzy heights of disengagement br Far from valleys of despair br Engaged in self-development br Practicing the art of listening br But, only to each other br Behind the walls of charity br Built to ensure the difference br In giving we maintain br Power, a sense of well-being br Never far from touchstones br With essays to write br And brown rice to cook br Lipservice to gospels untold br Raising loud our voice for br Our agenda, Our isms br A menu of causes, Life br Liberty and self our pursuit br Disengaged voices so shallow br Sound the death of integrity br Redouble our efforts br When this becomes clear br Offensive defensive we become br Distance compressed in time br We are all aware, yet turn away br Conscience absorbed in silence br When the correct time arrives br We feed our excuse to remain br Disengaged and indifferent br Spiritual truth is ageless br I am my Neighbour.
